Ipoh Mural Art History!!


     In recent years, the Street Art in Malaysia has picked up quite a bit where many local and international artist have done some art pieces here and there. Not to be confused, but there are a few terms that this form or art is being called. Most call it Street Art while some call it Street Paintings or Street Murals.
    While it may be new to some, many would already know the one who started it all, Ernest Zacharevic who first start the street art in Penang in 2012. Today, there are mainly 10 cities including Ipoh around Malaysia that hosts these amazing street art paintings in various locations. Depending on where you visit in Malaysia, you may most likely encounter some of them without even trying as they are usually located in high tourist areas.



    The picture below shows paintings on the wall created by local artist appear at back lane of Hugh Low Street and Hume Street, the block nearby Kinta River. The paintings are mainly illustrating local culture and history, such as folk dances, tin mining, traditional games and so on.
There is an art exhibition held by art studio at the back lane and had attracted quite a number of visitors. Apart from the mural painting, the studio also present many student art works and it certainly keeps the visitors' camera busy for capturing the masterpiece. It did not stop the people from attending this exhibition despite the warm weather in the afternoon.


By local artist
     The street art of wall painting that brought in by a Lithuanian artist has become popular in Penang, it also emerges in Ipoh in 2013 by local artist. In year 2014, Ernest Zacharevic came to Ipoh to do the project "Art of Oldtown" by Oldtown White Coffee.He has start to draw the mural in the several place of Ipoh.
